Getting Around

Airport to Train Station;Esbjerg: Bus Service to and from Esberg train station and the airport. Copenhagen: The airport train station is located underneath Terminal 3 and connects to the city train station.

 

Tickets & Discounts

Student – DSB Wildcard provides a discount on rail travel in Denmark to those aged 16-26 years or for students who study in higher education.

Senior – If you are over 65 you may buy a 65 ticket which offers discounted travel on train travel. If you are under 65 but have taken early retirement, you may also may purchase the 65 ticket if you have a DSB Identity Card.

Business – tickets available – can benefit from free tea & coffee, newspapers and magazines, you are automatically guaranteed parking, free internet between Aarhaus and Copenhagen, and there is a quiet zone.

Special cards with reduced prices for children under 16 years. Travel Pass is a card to participants in conferences, rallies and other events. It is valid for bus, train and Metro for two to eight continuous zones or all zones in the metropolitan area.  Special tourist card applies for 24 or 72 hours and provides access to over 60 attractions throughout the metropolitan area, and a number of discounts. This card gives free transportation by bus, train and Metro throughout the metropolitan area.

Copenhagen Card – adult may take up to 2 children under 12 years for free with this card. City Pass valid for unlimited travel by bus, train and Metro for 24 or 72 hours. DSB Group ticket offers a discount to groups of 8 adults or more. Group of 30 or more people traveling in InterCity and InterCityLyn – can contact the station to discuss discount options. Disabled persons may receive a discount on train travel.

You can rent a train for an event.

DSB Event Ticket offers you a 20% discount on the trip when you buy your ticket in advance for year-round concerts, events, festivals throughout the country.DSB Mini Group offers you a discount of 20-60% for small groups.

Onboard Stuff

 

Seats and Beds – A Eurail Pass is valid on all domestic trains within Denmark. Seat reservation is not necessary, though advance reservation is recommended on the InterCity / InterCity Lyn trains if you want to be sure of a seat. Seat reservation is required for some international trains: the X2000 between Copenhagen and Stockholm (Sweden) and ICE International trains to various countries.

Baggage – bikes are carried in the luggage van of all Danish InterCity and some regional trains.  You’ll need a bike ticket, valid all day, between May & August, you need to reserve a space for a bike on all InterCity trains. There are a limited number of bike spaces available on the Öresund Link trains between Copenhagen & Malmö in Sweden, and between Copenhagen & Gothenburg.  But bikes are generally not carried on inter-city trains within Sweden,

Onboard Services e.g. Wi-Fi – either for a nominal fee or free Wi-Fi in the commuter train in Denmark.

Station stuff– The left luggage in Copenhagen Hovedbanegård (main station).

 

The Small Print; Seating reservations aren’t compulsory. It is recommended to make reservations for IC/InterCity Lyn trains. For International trains e.g. X2000 and City Night Line, reservations are a must! Extra charges vary between different types of seats and sleepers.
