Copenhagen, Stockholm, Gothenburg and Osl. SJ (State Railways – Statens Järnvägar) is the national Swedish rail provider.
Most modern and fastest rail service in the Scandinavian region. When you book online with SJ there is no booking or postage fee (if you live in Sweden). Tickets can be collected at the SJ ticket machines at any station. Travellers can book up to 90 days in advance.
The majority of services don’t require seat reservations with the exception of high speed trains X2000 and international trains to neighbouring countries. Reservations can be made on the JR website or at big stations. Similarly to airlines, if you are booking over 60 days in advance you must check in online. 1st and 2nd class cars, family car, quiet zone and special disability seats onboard. Bicke tickets can be purchased and pets are allowed onboard, but only in 2nd class.

Special Offers and Discounts
Children under 6 free, 6-15 inclusive child fare. If you have an adult ticket then you can bring two children below the age of 16 with you and only pay a booking fee per child (when you buy your ticket online, otherwise the fee is higher). If you are travelling on a youth ticket then you can bring two children with you under the ages of 6 years.
Family Offer; with an adult ticket you can take a maximum of two children (under 16 years) with you on the train. Students can get up to 30 percent lower price on 2nd class tickets and 10- pass tickets. As a pensioner you get a lower ticket fare when you book a Last minute (Sista minuten) ticket.
Night Trains; an adult ticket can take two children under 15 years. Children aged 0-9 may travel for free if sharing a berth with paying adults.
As a youth, you can receive up to 30% off 2nd Class tickets on SJ’s day trains, and up to 15% off tickets on SJ’s night trains.
Last minute (Sista minuten) is a ticket for those of you under the age of 26, students or pensioners.
