SNCB is one of Belgium’s main rail providers, operating train services throughout Belgium and neighbouring countries. It offers many discounts and special offers to kids, seniors, families and groups.
Routes: Brussels Mid, Brussels Zuid and Brussels Central to Amsterdam, Paris, London and Cologne.
Passengers travelling to and from Brussels airport are required to pay a supplement, which can be paid for at the station or in the train.If you wish to bring your bike, buy a one-day card.
Passengers are allowed to bring three pieces of carry-on luggage. Storage luggage facilities are available in most train stations. All Belgium stations charge for toilet facilities.
There is a service for people with limited mobility in most stations – you can obtain a special discount, have priority to a seat and you can choose someone to accompany you for free.
Tickets can be paid for up to 3 months ahead of departure. Best to book ahead for the cheapest fares and online to avoid any long queues at Belgium stations.
Train Types
Eurocity Trains depart from Brussels three times daily, via Namur, Luxembourg and the East of France. Intercity Trains; no need to book your seat on these trains., destinations include Luxembourg, Tourcoing, Roubaix, Lille, Roosendaal, Dordrecht, Rotterdam, The Hague, Amsterdam, Maastricht and Aachen. Fyra is a new High speed train linking Brussels and Amsterdam. 1st class tickets can use the NS Hispeed Lounge in Amsterdam, Schiphol, Rotterdam and Breda
Special Offers & Discounts
School Railcard – students under 26 years receive a discount. Children aged under 12 years travel free of charge, when accompanied by an adult. Children under 12 years travelling alone, only pay half price. Discounts available for large families. Those with low family income can receive a discount if they have a special card. Same for job seekers, military personnel and police officers.
Senior ticket offers special rates to those over 65 years old. Reduced prices with pass cards, for example Go Pass 10 and Key Card, etc. Discounts for groups of a minimum of 15 people.
B-Excursions include a return 2nd class train journey, admission to the attractions and the connection by bus, tram or metro.
Weekend ticket offers you a 50% discount in 1st or 2nd class.
